Julia's VIVIFY Session
When Julia reached out to me, her email resonated deeply. Her words expressed a longing for a boudoir experience that went beyond traditional notions of "sexy." Julia's desire for a more meaningful and authentic representation of herself aligned perfectly with my approach as a photographer.
“I’ve just come across your page and your work is beautiful. I am so happy to see that a boudoir exists in this way. Every time I googled boudoir though, it wasn’t quite feeling right, and it was hard to find something where sexy wasn’t the operative word (sexy is great! just not what I was hoping for). Your shots are gorgeous, and the whole concept is so much more of what I was looking for even if I couldn’t quite articulate it myself.”
Julia's initial email reflected her frustration with the limited portrayals of boudoir photography that she found online. Little did I know that our collaboration would take an unexpected turn when Julia arrived for the photoshoot with her wedding dress in hand. What unfolded was a magical blend of vulnerability, beauty, and the unexpected. Julia's decision to bring her wedding dress to the photoshoot caught me off guard. However, I quickly realized that this unexpected element had the potential to add depth and meaning to our session. Julia expressed her desire to capture a few shots in her wedding dress before immersing herself in the Eno River. Embracing the opportunity to capture the contrast between the traditional and the unconventional, I enthusiastically agreed! The resulting photographs exceeded all expectations. The fusion of boudoir aesthetics with the wedding dress created captivating imagery that defied categorization.
