JENNIFER DAWES DESIGN & WINK HAIR + MAKEUP COLLABORATION: DIAMONDS with the THREE MUSES: Anna, Laura, and Karolyne's VIVIFY Session part III of III
“If you want to go quickly, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”
– African Proverb
Rounding out part III of III with my dream-team collaboration with conflict-free jewelry designer, Jennifer Dawes, of Jennifer Dawes Design, and the highly skilled makeup team of WINK Hair + Makeup. The foundation of this collaboration was about recognizing our inner beauty, celebrating our strengths, honoring the power of compassion for ourselves, and showing her through our eyes and our hands just how beautiful she is; I believe our mission radiates through our images.
Want to know something wild?! The women photographed here are COMPLETE strangers from one another. You'd think that Anna and Laura are sisters and Karolyne is a long-time childhood friend just judging by the ease of the images. I wish I had video recordings of how much FUN we had on this shoot together; SO. MUCH. LAUGHTER. Leading this collaboration as a photographer, my brain was hyper-focused on the job of being behind the camera; making sure quality images were produced that highlighted all of our skills as female artists. My brain was spinning on working quickly, posing, NOT losing Jennifer's precious jewels in the river, and allowing creativity to flow. My heart raced with excitement. I can remember a particular moment where I stopped to put down my camera and admired the beautiful connections that were being made with these women. While this "moment" wasn't necessarily captured in one particular image it is a memory and feeling that I will hold close to my heart; it is the very essence of why we women thrive in a community.
Now, when I reflect on that memory it reminds me of how robbed we were in 2020. Missed connections, missed community, and missed precious time with our loved ones. As you all know my journey, canceling my 2020 Vivify Sessions AND bringing a baby boy at the height of this global pandemic. It felt isolating and strange. I will be forever grateful to the frontline and essential workers, and scientists across America and the world. Thank you for your service. I acknowledge it's people like you who've made it possible for people like me to get back to doing the things I love. Looking forward to getting back behind the camera for 2021 Vivify Sessions.
with kindness and light,
Krista
